Easily hide important or personal files, folders or even an entire USB Drive with only a few mouse clicks, keeping them safe with a password
Not all files can be secured by default. Most documents can be protected with a password or hidden deep in multiple folders, but they are still at risk. Luckily, applications such as Wise Folder Hider provide a means of securing important files both by hiding and having a password set.
Quick deployment on your system
The setup process literally requires you to click just once, as there are no other offers and settings are already configured. Unless you want to change the destination folder, hitting the “Install” button is all it takes to get it deployed on your system.
Running the application brings up a modern and visually appealing interface. Most space is dedicated to elements you add, with a few buttons found under intuitive icons placed in an upper toolbar.
A little rough around the edges
The application suggests that you can simply drag files or folders over the main window to have them hidden. Moreover, a context menu entry is added to further simplify the process. Unfortunately, none of the two mentioned methods worked in tests conducted on Windows 7 and 8.1, which is a major disappointment.
This only leaves you with the possibility to use the dedicated buttons and manually find files and folders which are hidden once you select them. In addition, you can choose to hide an entire USB drive to prevent others accessing personal or important data. However, the drive is still visible in a file explorer along with space info, but content is completely hidden.
Protects files and folders with a password
In order to keep your files secured, before any process can be put in motion you are required to set a master password you must keep in mind, otherwise your files are lost forever. Each time you run the application, you are prompted for the specified security key.
View and operate selected elements
All files and folders you choose are displayed in the main window, along with info regarding lock, status and operations which can either be open, unhide or set password. However, once you choose to make an element visible again, there is no integrated options that allows you to hide it back. This is done by going through the browser one more time.
In conclusion
To sum it up, Wise Folder Hider comes packed with potential, but only at a theoretical level, leaving a little something to be desired. Its options are as straightforward as can get, but even so, it gets a little time-consuming to hide elements again due to the poor design. The interface is well built, but on the technical side there is a lot of room for improvements. Source
