Videoconferencing and Audio Visual Services (VAVS) are responsible
for the provision of equipment and support services in Common Teaching
Rooms and centrally bookable Videoconferencing venues.
VAVS have systems in Cairns, Townsville and on Thursday Island and
also provide videoconferencing infrastructure services such as bridging
for multi site conferences including connections to conferences all over
the world over IP, ISDN and telephone. From 2010 VAVS are also
providing electronic recordings of lectures and presentations on
request.
Technical staff are available at both the Cairns and Townsville
campuses to provide support. For technical assistance with VAVS
equipment including projectors, touch and control panels, visualisers
and DVD players, contact VAVS.
Staff are also available to train and assist users to get the full
benefit out of JCU videoconferencing and audio visual systems, either as
a one on one or group training sessions.
MedTech i.e. technical staff at the JCU Townsville Medical School are
responsible for the technical support in this area. Please note their
network encompasses MedSchool facilities at Townsville, Cairns, Mackay
